Day 7 Melbourne

Today Ina and I went for a jog around a park down the street.  It was a cold morning so Ina took a few breaks on the swings at the playground.

Next we hopped on the light rail and went into downtown Melbourne.  On the way we went by a huge horse track, the tennis complex where the Australian open is played a two other large stadium, for cricket, rugby and AFL I believe.

I forgot my camera, but Ina let me barrow hers.  We got off the train at the Federation Street Station, right across the street from Federation Square and St. Paul’s cathedral.

We went to HSBC, the world’s local bank, for some much needed cash.  Australia believes in coins, so $1 and $2 are both coins, but they don’t have pennies.  Somehow I always have a full pocket of change though.

We saw signs for a Tim Burton exhibit at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, http://www.acmi.net.au/ .  The exhibit actually starts next week.  We went into the museum anyway, it was free, and saw the history of the moving image.  They talked about how movies started and all the progression through the internet.  They also had a batmobile.

Outside of the museum some bikes caught my eye.  Melbourne has just started a bike share program.  You are required to ride with a helmet, but you can’t rent them, http://www.melbournebikeshare.com.au/ .

Ina did not approve of my use of the camera.

We headed home after the museum.  For dinner Ina’s other Aunt came over with Ina’s other cousin, Angel.  I talked at length, too much length according to Ina, about my family when asked.  O well, good food and company will do that to you.  For the second night Ina and I got schooled by Ina’s two cousins, Raymond and Kevin, at various wii sports.
